Creature feature.

I would like to thank the brain/brains behind the i only like monsters blog for featuring some of my creatures in their latest post.

The Exquisitely Eccentric Edward Gorey.

Well, after countless hours of work, Edward is finally complete! Not only is this my first attempt at a portrait since 6th grade, but it is also the largest drawing I have done in a few years.

If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Gorey’s work, immediately head to your local bookstore and pick up up one of his many books. Be warned, they are highly addictive. The first one I ever bought was “The Gashlycrumb Tinies”.

The cat, his pajamas and I.

I have been a drawing machine for the past three days working on a very fun commission piece. Ever heard the saying “you’re the cat’s pajamas”? Well, here is my interpretation. Not to “toot my own horn”, but I think it is pretty hilarious.

Now that this snazzy feline complete, I can get resume work on Edward Gorey and a few other projects.

The Extremely Eccentric Edward Gorey.

People have always been my artistic kryptonite. As much as I enjoy the beauty of the human form, my interest in drawing it is slim to none. Recently, I have had a change of heart. The urge to try my hand at portraits has been creeping up on me for a long time now. Unable to ignore it any longer, I surrendered and started work on my first portrait since form 1 aka (6th grade). For a first subject, I decided upon one of my main artistic inspirations… Edward Gorey. I have been slaving over this drawing for a week now.

A happy accident.

Sometimes accidents and mistakes can be very surprising. This little doodle, started as lines left behind from cleaning an ink dropper. The mess spoke to me, so I added a couple details (teeth and completed the nose). I am contemplating ripping the page out of the sketchbook and framing it.
